Overview of S.H.E.L.I. Men

SINAI Schools’ Nathan Miller SHELI Residence for Men (Supported Home Environment for
Learning Independence) is designed to meet the social, recreational, and emotional needs of young adults with Developmental Disabilities in the context of a supervised housing facility in a beautiful, split-level home in Teaneck, NJ.

This unique program guides young men through their transition to group living while promoting their independence as adults.

A trained staff of professionals, including special educators and therapists, create an environment that facilitates support for members to share both in their similarities as well as their differences, thereby creating a family of caring individuals. Strong friendships are formed in this structured environment.

Residents participate in a variety of programs and activities throughout their week, in addition to maintaining a rigorous work schedule. Such activities include exercise, chessed, Torah learning, recreation, shul attendance, grocery shopping, meal preparation, individual and group chores, day and overnight trips, and social programming.
