SINAI’s Rabbi Mark and Linda Karasick Shalem High School at Torah Academy of Bergen County (TABC) is located in Teaneck, NJ. Serving boys ages 14-21, we offer a functional academic high school program designed to prepare students with developmental disabilities for rich and productive adult lives. Our hands-on, pragmatic curriculum stretches and challenges students while providing them with the critical skills they will need most as adults. We prepare our students to serve as contributing members of the Jewish community through a variety of hands-on programs including Work Study, World Awareness, and Life Skills.
Students at Shalem High School get the best of both worlds. We design a uniquely individualized program for each boy, with specialized therapeutic services built into his day. All of this takes place within our inclusive TABC partner school, where SINAI students are full members of the TABC student community—traveling on the bus together, eating lunch together, playing ball together, and participating in school assemblies together. TABC’s Lunch Buddy Program partners students from TABC and SINAI; many of these social relationships have lasted long after both students have graduated.
Our girls’ division is located down the block at Ma’ayanot Yeshiva High School. In September, 2016, we opened Shalem at Heichal HaTorah, for boys ages 18-21 to continue their education, with an emphasis on vocational preparedness and life skills.
